Have Chains Ready

San Andreas, CA -- The CHP is urging residents heading to the high country to have chains in their vehicles this weekend.
"We'll be working with Caltrans on Hwy 4 and assisting with chain controls this weekend," says San Andreas CHP Officer Becky Myers. "We're going to have an officer up there for enforcement, so make sure you're carrying chains."
The speed limit in chain controlled areas is 25 mph. The location of chain controls is based on current weather and roadway conditions.
