Sacramento, CA -- A group of Republican lawmakers are pushing for a ballot initiative to suspend AB 32, the global warming legislation signed in 2006.

The Secretary of State's Office has cleared the petition and supporters now have until July 5th to gather the needed 433,971 signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

The initiative would suspend AB 32 until the unemployment rate falls to 5.5 percent and stays there for a year.

AB 32 was pushed for by Governor Schwarzenegger, and places regulations on businesses in order to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere.
