When It Rains It More Than Pours

Sonora, CA — And the rains came down in buckets Monday afternoon in the Mother Lode.

Minor flooding occured in many areas during the band of weather that hit the Jamestown-Sonora area at precisely 4pm.

There was some flooding in the downtown area that lasted for a short period of time. Clogged drains presented a bit of a problem.

As pictured, courtesy of Brian Curnow, the railroad tracks and Hospital Rd. received more than their fair share of the inclement weather.

There were also reports of flooding in the Sanguinetti Loop area near the Pak-N-Save store.

The deluge lasted for approximately a half an hour.

Railroad Tracks Flooding (3/2/09)

Sand was made available by Tuolumne County at nine o’clock Monday evening. Sand was delivered to the Jamestown Fire Department at 18249 Fourth Ave. and the Columbia Airport.

Initially sand was to be delivered to the CAL Fire Station on Forest Rd. but officials decided to exclude that location due to the possible blocking of emergency vehicles.

Sand will remain available this morning. Interested parties must supply their own bags and shovels. Bags can be purchased at local area hardware stores.
