Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors have finalized the name of the new road that runs along the Law and Justice Center property off Old Wards Ferry Road.

The county was set to vote on November 13th whether to name the road, “Justice Center Drive.” After hearing concerns from the public, the board postponed a decision. County staff members were asked to submit suggestions, and the Board received around 40 ideas. The list was narrowed down to 13, and the finalists included Constitution Way, Corral Way, Decree Drive, Due Process Way, Equity Lane, Guardian Way, Justice Center Drive, Justice Court, Justice View Drive, Justice Vista Drive, Law and Order Lane, Veteran Lane, and Wisdom Lane.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Supervisor Dick Pland proposed going with the original idea, “Justice Center Drive.” The fellow board members agreed, and it was approved with a 5-0 vote.
The property is set to eventually house a Juvenile Detention Facility, Superior Courts building, County Jail and possibly a CHP headquarters.
