State Ballot Measures

Sacramento, CA — After trailing during the early results, Governor Jerry Brown’s tax measure came out victorious last night.

With 95% of the statewide votes tabulated, Proposition 30 has 54% in favor and 46% in opposition. It had strong support among the coastal communities, but was opposed by many inland counties. Here is a rundown of the proposition results as provided this morning by the Secretary of State’s Office:

Proposition 34 (Death Penalty Repeal) 47.4% – 52.6%
Proposition 35 (Human Trafficking) 81.1% – 18.9%
Proposition 36 (Three Strikes Law) 68.8% – 31.2%
Proposition 37 (Genetically Engineered Foods Labeling) 47% – 53%
Proposition 38 (Tax For Education) 27.7% – 72.3%
Proposition 39 (Business Tax For Energy Funding) 60.2% – 39.8%
Proposition 40 (Redistricting State Senate) 71.5% – 28.5%

Tuolumne County voted the opposite of the state when it comes to Propositions 30, 32 and 39. Calaveras County also bucked the state trend on Propositions 30 and 32.
