Jamestown, CA – CAL Fire says they still don’t know what sparked a 24 acre grass fire near Jamestown Sunday afternoon, but they say area residents were almost evacuated.
CAL Fire Spokesperson Lisa Williams says the flames came dangerously close to the Jamestown Apartments and crews discussed evacuation plans. She says PG & E, CHP and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene just in case residents had to make a quick exit.
Williams says luckily crews got the flames under control before there was any damage to the apartments.
The fire started at around four o’clock along Preston Lane near Seco. Williams says the blaze caused around $4800 dollars in damage to the burnt acreage.
