Sonora, CA -- With the pouring of the deck this past Friday the Tuolumne County Public Works Department is estimating that the new Sullivan Creek Bridge will open for through traffic in mid-December.

According to Spokesperson Gary Taylor, "The bridge is starting to actually look like a bridge now that the deck has been poured. We're probably looking at having the bridge open somewhere between December 11-14. We've had a couple of storms come through but for the most part things have gone pretty smoothly.

We still have to work on the approach roads. That will probably take a couple of weeks. Then we have to redo some of the sanitary sewer through there, place the guardrail and then take care of the paving. Last Friday, though, was really a major milestone getting the deck poured."

The $2.1 million project is being funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Program.
