Angels Camp Police Solve Several Burglaries

Angels Camp, CA – Two juveniles were arrested in connection with four residential burglaries and three vehicle burglaries in the Angels Camp area. Two of the incidents occurred on Saturday at homes on Blair Mine Road.

Police Chief Todd Fordahl says the arrests were the result of a tip provided by an anonymous resident in the Angel Oaks subdivision. The person saw a neighborhood juvenile jumping a fence in the early morning hours.  Further investigation led to a home where both suspects, the 17 year-old Angels Camp resident and a 17 year-old Murphys resident were located. The parents gave permission for a search which led to recovery of property taken in both Saturday’s burglaries as well as other residential and vehicle burglaries reported in the Angel Oaks and Greenhorn Creek subdivisions.

According to Fordahl “It doesn’t happen very often where we get to clear up several cases like this. The reason why we were able to was because the information that was shared. A person who whitnessed it, thought it was wierd, and took the time to report it to the police.” According to Fordahl “That information made the case.”

Items that were stolen include; a money clip with unspecified amount of cash, and iPhone, a spotting scope and two air rifles. The Angels Camp Police Department also recovered items believed to be stolen including; two additional cameras, some jewelry, two GPS devices and some knives. One of the cameras is believed to be worth $1,500. There are no crime reports filed with the Angels Camp or Calaveras Sheriff’s Department to match this property that is believed to be stolen. Fordahl encouraged anyone with detailed information of property that has been stolen recently in the area to contact the Angels Camp Police Department.

The suspects have been booked into juvenile hall on numerous felony counts related to burglary and possession of stolen property. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
