San Andreas, CA -- The CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit was called upon Sunday to supply resources to fight the 600 acre Loma Fire in the Santa Cruz mountains.

60 homes have been evacuated in the Santa Cruz mountains north of Watsonville as the Loma wildfire threatens about 150 homes and 100 businesses. CAL Fire reports a trailer and two outbuildings were destroyed after the fire broke out Sunday.

The blaze has burned approximately 600 acres and is only 20 percent contained. The fire was first reported Sunday morning at three o'clock.

The CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras unit supplied Copter 902 and a strike team of dozers to that firefighting effort Sunday.

Close to a thousand firefighters are on site. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
