Arson Plea Deal

Columbia, CA – The man accused of setting fire to the Columbia House Restaurant pled guilty to a felony arson charge in Tuolumne County Superior Court on January 11. As part of a plea deal from the Tuolumne County Districts Attorney’s Office, 21-year-old Daenon Vincent Brewer pled guilty to the arson and will serve two years in prison.


Brewer was accused of going into the restaurant at the Columbia State Historic Park and setting fire to a Christmas tree inside. The Columbia House Restaurant received heavy damage, but the structure is still standing. Most of the adjacent Angelo’s Hall survived undamaged.


Additional misdemeanor charges, including being under the influence of opiates,were dismissed as part of the plea bargain. Brewer is eligible for parole in a year.
