King Celebration Highlights Weekend Events

On Sunday the Motherlode Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration is from 2pm to 4pm at the Sonora High School auditorium. The free event typically draws around 400 people. The keynote speaker is Father Roy Bourgeois, human rights activist, Michelle Allison and Dennis Brown. There will be singing and student awards as well.

The 40th Annual Tuolumne County 4-H Community Dinner and Cake Auction is this Saturday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. The event features Tri-tip, but a vegetarian option is available. It raises funds for 4H events, scholarships and leadership trainings. Up in Twain Harte a “Gala and Garage Sale” will benefit the Twain Harte Branch Library and MiWuk Community Library. The garage sale is happening today until 4pm and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm at the Twain Harte Golf Clubhouse. Details are here.

The Tuolumne County Library’s Saturday Family Matinée Movie begins at 2:00 pm. Held in the community room of the Sonora Library they will will be showing “Practically Perfect in Every Way”. For event details click here.

Registration for the Young Americans at Summerville High School begins today. The Young Americans company of 45 staff, singers, and dancers will present a three-day workshop program filled with music, dance, and more for grades 4th-12th.
