New Board Begins Business

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Several items were discussed at the first full meeting of the year for the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors.

New board members Sherri Brennan and Karl Rodefer were officially sworn in on January 6, but there were only a few items on that morning’s agenda.

Today the Supervisors postponed a vote on approving the 2013 board goals, and on revisions to the county’s Five Year Plan. The Supervisors indicated that they would like additional time to analyze the documents.

The County voted to request proposals from real estate agents to market the Columbia Airport Armory. The 11,000 sq. ft. space has set vacant for around a year, and the county is having trouble finding an entity to rent the space. County documents show that the potential rent associated with the property is $3,400 a month. It was noted that the county is not planning to sell the space, only rent it.

The Supervisors postponed a vote regarding an ordinance related to the payment of taxes and assessments for newly created or reconfigured lots in the county.

Before the noon hour, the Board broke into closed session to discuss the open County Counsel position. The Board will reconvene at 1:30pm this afternoon. You can listen live in the multimedia section of myMotherLode.com. Topics will include rates at the Cal Sierra Earth Resources Facility, and whether to reactivate the Ad Hoc Committee for the Biological Resources Review Guide.
