P.G.& E. To Temporarily Close Main Canal

Sonora, CA -- P.G.& E. will be closing its main canal effective Monday, October 12 through Monday, October 19.
The reason for the closure is P.G.& E.'s regular maintenance.

The main canal provides the primary water supply for the Tuolumne Utilities District.

Without water coming in from the ditches, the only water available is what remains in the storage tank and wells. Conservation during this one week time period will help provide adequate water supply for drinking, sanitary usage and fire protection.

According to T.U.D.'s Lisa Westbrook the public can help in the conservation effort by limiting outside watering and eliminating vehicle washing and hosing down driveways. Residents are also encouraged to turn off automatic lawn and drip sprinkler timers and repair all water leaks.

The final request is to follow these conservation tips for one week following the canal shutdown to help in the recovery of water storage.
