Hwy 108 J59 Accident Cleared
Jamestown, CA -- Officer Mike Remmell of the Highway Patrol reports the two vehicle accident near the J59 (La Grange Rd.) turnoff from Hwy 108 has been cleared.
47 year old Timothy Smith of Sonora was westbound on Hwy 108 in his 2004 Chevrolet when he attempted to pass two big rigs. In the process of moving into the eastbound lane Smith's vehicle collided with a 1998 International big rig driven by 42 year old Sean Conway of Modesto.
Conway's big rig then traveled into the westbound lane and onto the north shoulder overturning.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. As a result no injuries occured.
According to Officer Remmell traffic was slowed for approximately four-and-a-half hours before the International could be uprighted and removed. The truck was carrying a load of ice.
