Time To Turn Off The Tap
Sonora, CA - It is that time of year again when Tuolumne Utilities District (T.U.D.) asks you to conserve on your water use. T.U.D.'s annual "Ditch Outage" will be taking place next week. They say the ditches that supply water to the district's treatment plant will not be working as PG & E will be doing regular maintenance on the main canal. The work will begin Monday, October 14th and continue through Monday, October 21, 2013. District officials say the ditches will not be in service so the only water available will be what remains in the storage tank and wells. They say conservation during this time will help provide adequate water supply for drinking, sanitary usage and fire protection.
T.U.D. offers these suggestions on how residents can help:
- Limit outside watering
- Do not wash cars or hose down driveways
- Turn off automatic lawn and drip sprinkler timers
- Repair water leaks
District officials are also asking customers to continue to conserve water for one week after the outage in order to recover water storage.
