Wivell Receiving Irving J. Symons Award
A fifth generation Tuolumne County resident will receive the Irving J. Symons Award later this month.
Ty Wivell will receive the honor at Sonora Regional Medical Center's 13th annual Joie de Vie Gala on October 20th. The event at Ironstone Vineyards raises money to help cancer patients.
Information provided from SRMC reads, "Ty, a 5th-generation resident of Tuolumne County, has been serving the citizens of the Mother Lode for decades. In addition to wearing many hats (mostly cowboy!) and serving on numerous boards and committees, Ty is often found working with others behind the scenes to develop programs and services for the benefit of others."
Wivell has been an active member of several organizations and government entities, including the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Posse, Farm Bureau, Tuolumne County Planning Commission, Mother Lode Fair, and many more.
The Irving J. Symons Award recognizes outstanding community service, and named after the late Irving Symons. Former recipients include Frank Salel, H. Randolph Holder, Robert Cutler, Pete Kerns, Pete and Sue Kleinert, Joe Martin, Chuck and Willy Evans, Mary Laveroni, and Pat and Harvey Rhodes.
