Busted Pipe Closes Library
Murphys, CA -- The Murphys Library is shut down today after a water pipe burst. Library officials did not offer more details on what caused the broken pipe. They do report that the library will be closed for about a week due to the extensive water damage to the downstairs carpet. Library officials say they will need to move all the book shelves and books out of the downstairs to be able to replace the carpet. Also, they report an elevator needs some replacement parts.
Library officials say the damage will be covered by insurance. They ask if you do need to renew books please call 728-3036 and leave a message. To return books you can place them in the drop box next to the back door near the library parking lot. The target date for reopening the library is Friday, October 11th.
