Smoke-free Medical Center
No Smoking Sign
Sonora, CA -- Sonora Regional Medical Center (SRMC) will be a tobacco-free campus starting July 1st. The beginning of this month, the hospital initiated a new policy prohibiting tobacco use anywhere on Medical Center property. That includes parking lots, walkways and landscaped areas at the main hospital campus and at each outpatient clinic and support facility. SRMC Officials say they are warning patients and visitors ahead of time when they can.
SRMC President and CEO Jeff Eller says, "Tobacco use is a significant risk factor for many preventable diseases and our role as a health care organization is to not only treat illness but also help prevent illness. By prohibiting tobacco use at all of our facilities, we are promoting wellness by encouraging a healthy lifestyle for everyone who visits or works at the Medical Center."
If you want to quit smoking, SRMC says you can call 209-536-3726 for more information. Also, the Medical Center offers an American Lung Association certified class at the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic at 19747 Greenley Road in Sonora.
