T-shirts Pay It Forward

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Groveland family has used its design skills to help in the Rim Fire recovery efforts.  Christina and David Wilkinson own Saber Designs. They created two versions of a Rim Fire t-shirt to sell to the public with the proceeds going to the fire recovery.   1,500 shirts have sold so far for a grand total of $14,000.  Stanislaus National Forest Officials say some of the funds will be donated to the local fire department with the balance going to the Rim Fire Recovery efforts.

To honor the Wilkinson family for their charity, a fund donation ceremony will be held Tuesday, June 17 at 10 am at the Rim of the World Overlook on Highway 120 east of Groveland.

According to Forest Officials, it is a gift that keeps on giving as the Tuolumne River Trust is matching that contribution.  In addition, the Forest Service hopes to add the matching funds to an anticipated grant from the National Forest Foundation.  Forest Officials say these combined funds will be used to help coordinate the repairing and replacement of recreation signs, picnic tables, trail maintenance, and eradicating weeds.
