Haigh Fire 10% Contained

Coulterville, CA — The Haigh Fire grows to 130 acres and is 10% contained this morning.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze throughout the night. The flames are burning oak woodland and brush off Highway 49 by by Haigh Road near Coulterville in Mariposa. No structures have been damaged or destroyed and none are threatened.  Cal Fire reports the fire is in a remote area with steep terrain.

The flames broke out after 3 pm Tuesday. Columbia Air Attack along with four engines, one dozer, a strike team of five engines, and two strike teams of inmate, which can be up to 15 inmates, from the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of Cal Fire are assisting in the effort.

In total on scene, there are 275 firefighters, 22 engines, 12 fire crews, 4 air tankers, 4 helicopters, 6 dozers and 4 water tenders. There has been one minor injury. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
