New Life For Former Denny’s
Sonora, CA - New life in a former restaurant building could be a sign business is picking up in Sonora. Workers are putting a fresh coat of paint on the old Denny's building next to the upper SaveMart. It will soon be the new home of the Original Buffalo Wings restaurant.
Company Spokesperson Patrick Perkins explains why they decided to expand from San Francisco and picked Sonora, "Part of it was the owners are also the owners of the Sonora Gold Hotel and they saw the opportunity that the Denny's was available. They felt that this was a little bit different from what food was available in the area. This is more pub grub. We also saw an opportunity to focus on more local food and wine. We plan on using as much locally made products as possible."
City of Sonora Community Development Director Rachelle Kellogg says her office is seeing a boost in business, "The phone is ringing a little bit more. We seem to have a little bit more activity so we can all hope we will see things start moving in Tuolumne County. That would be great."
Perkins says they plan to hire around 20 employees and are taking applications at the Sonora Gold Hotel. The new owners are Ted Tan and Sandra Ung from San Francisco.
