Taking Tires

Sponsored by:

Calaveras County, CA — Forget using them for lawn art, Calaveras County wants your used tires.

This weekend is the county’s “Tire Amnesty Days”. You can get rid of your old truck and car tires, without the rims, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 3 at the following locations:

Rock Creek Solid Waste Facility, Milton 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Red Hill Yard Waste Area, Vallecito 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Wilseyville Yard Waste Area, Wilseyville 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Gambi Disposal, San Andreas 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Calaveras County Public Works Program Coordinator Yvonne Van Zee says, “We don’t want the tires stacked up on the sides of the road or in our ditches. Also, we don’t want them stacked on people’s property. When we have fires those are the things that are really dangers.”

There is a nine tire per person limit. Tire dealers or other businesses are not allowed to participate. In addition, industrial, farming and heavy equipment tires are not accepted. The service is free to Calaveras and Alpine County residents.

Van Zee says proof of residency will be required. Either you can use a current driver’s license showing a Calaveras or Alpine County address or a copy of your current tax bill, which shows a property related solid waste fee.
