Two Suspects Identified In Counterfeit Case

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department has identified two of the three suspects wanted for passing fake money in Walmart.

As reported earlier, two men and a woman used counterfeit $20 bills to purchase more than a $1000 worth of items from the store in March.  Police released photos of the suspects from store surveillance cameras shortly after the crime.

Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson says, “Within a few minutes of posting the photos on our Facebook page, someone called and identified one of the male subjects. Approximately a week later, another person called and identified the female subject.”

The man has been identified as 37-year-old Brandon Birdsong of Modesto. He is currently on probation for the same offense. The female has been identified as 36-year-old Shiray Muna.  She is believed to be from either the Modesto or Lodi area. Stinson says the report on this incident has been forwarded to the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges.

Anyone with information on Birdsong or Muna’s whereabouts should contact the Sonora PD at 209-532-8141.  You should also call that number if you have any information on the third unidentified male suspect in the photos.
