Broadband In The Mother Lode

Tuolumne, CA — Broadband Industry leaders will speak about all aspects of the technology at a local summit. Central Sierra Connect Broadband Consortium will be hosting a regional broadband summit on Thursday.   The event will feature experts in the field.  There will also be a panel discussion by local internet service providers and a broadband policy workshop in the afternoon.

Central Sierra Connect Marketing Director Darrell Slocum says, “The summit focus is about the state of broadband in the Mother Lode region.  Specifically what our current infrastructure is, projects that are underway, including CVIN Network [Central Valley Independent Next Broadband], and where we’re headed, and where we need to get to in the future.”

Here is the Consortium’s list of summit topics:

  • A “State of Broadband” Address for Rural California
  • The status of broadband infrastructure in the Mother Lode region
  • Improvements underway
  • Instruction on using the CPUC mapping program to identify served and underserved areas in our region
  • Innovations being implemented by local providers
  • Potential funding sources for future expansion
  • Testimony from one broadband champion’s experiences
  • A training session on “How to Create a Broadband Policy for your Community”

The event at the Black Oak Casino Resort Conference Center in Tuolumne County is sold out. Some of the keynote speakers are President and CEO of the California Emerging Technology Fund Sunne Wright McPeak and President of Tellus Venture Associates Steve Blum.
