Sierra Village, CA — Firefighters are heading to a vegetation fire near Highway 108 in Tuolumne County. Cal Fire reports the flames broke out in some vegetation near the Lyons Dam east of Sierra Village. There is no word on the size of the blaze. Its rate of spread or whether any structures are threatened in the area. We will bring you more information as soon as it is available.
Update: 3:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire is three acres in size. Crews are working to stop the forward rate of spread. No structures are threatened.
Update: 4:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports the fire has spread to 4 acres. Capt. Mike Spear says, “Access has been an issue for our resources getting into the area.” Cal Fire currently has five engines and three hand crews on the scene. There are three water tenders from the Tuolumne County Fire Department.
Update 5:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire is also assisting with the blaze.
