No Water Rate Increase?
Sonora, CA -- The T.U.D. Board of Directors will vote whether to cancel the water rate increase scheduled for next fiscal year.
Last year the previous T.U.D. Board voted to pass a rate increase of 2.78%, for each of the next two fiscal years. The new Board of Directors, which has voiced out against rate increases, will vote on Tuesday whether to scrap the plan. The rate increase is currently projected to bring in $319,051 to the district next year.
A concern listed in the Board information is that it can cost upwards of $50K to carry out the process of passing a rate increase, when you calculate the printing, mailing and staff time associated.
The Board will also vote on approving an agreement with the Sonora Water Company related to the collection of some past due amounts, and take up matters related to T.U.D. employee benefits.
The meeting will begin at 2pm on Tuesday in the Board meeting room. T.U.D. meetings are streamed live at www.tudwater.com.
