Change To State Fishing Licenses?

Sacramento, CA -- Senator Tom Berryhill has introduced legislation designed to please anglers.
The District 14 Republican is pushing SB 583, a measure that would create a fishing license that is good for 12 months, regardless of which month it is purchased. Currently, if you purchase a fishing license in June, you still pay for a full year, even if it is valid for just half the year.
Berryhill states, "When you get an opportunity to fish somewhere great, you want to get in your truck and go, not have to line up a new fishing license because the one you bought five months ago, for full price, is not good anymore."
Currently recreational California anglers only have the option of purchasing a license for one day, two days, or one calendar year.
