The Summerville Bears Boys Basketball team hosted Orland tonight at Summerville for the NorCal Playoffs. The Bears started off strong, making the first three shots of the game. They kept the numbers close for most of the game, but in the third quarter trailed by 13. One of the key players for Orland was #22 Jud Sailsbery. He was the top scorer with 40 points; 30 of which were on 3-pointers.

"He made like 70 percent of their points. He shot three pointers the entire game and for some reason we could not stop him" said Summerville Junior, Joseph McDonald.

Summerville stormed back to within 4 points in the 4th quarter, but in the end lost by five. The final score was 62 to 67.

Superintendent John Keiter praised the team and Basketball Head Coach Ben Watson. Keiter says, "The boys did a great job. Coach Watson did a great job. He took them a long way. We've gone further than we've gone ever before. I've got to admit it's tough to lose, but it's been a great season."

The Bears clinched the Division 4 CIF Sac-Joaquin Championship last Saturday at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. They defeated Liberty Ranch of Galt, 63-52 and made school history.

Monica Magdaleno, Summerville Sophomore says, "They put in a really good season and they won league non-stop. We went to Sleep Train Arena and we went this far, first ever in history, I'm filled with pride."
