Camp Connell Man Killed In Crash
Murphys, CA -- The CHP has identified the person killed in the fatal accident Monday afternoon on Highway 4 near Parrotts Ferry Road.
75-year-old David Garrett of Camp Connell was driving east on Highway 4 and allowed his 2008 Toyota Prius to drift into the opposing traffic lane. He collided head-on with a 2001 Dodge pickup truck driven by 51-year-old Marcello Bigotti of Walnut Creek. Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene. Bigotti and a passenger were transported to Mark Twain Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The CHP reports that the accident remains under investigation. Officer Michael Joslin says it is not known why Garrett's vehicle drifted into the opposing lane. The accident happened shortly before 2pm.
