Candidates Filing Deadline

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Today is significant for local candidates planning to run in the upcoming election.
Tuolumne County Clerk and Auditor-Controller Debi Bautista says if an incumbent is running for a position on the June Primary ballot, all needed paperwork must be submitted by 5pm today for that race. Assuming the incumbent files, the list of candidates for that race will close today.

If an incumbent does not file the paperwork by 5pm, the deadline for that race is pushed to next Wednesday, March 12, at 5pm. It is noted that incumbents cannot change their minds after today, as the extension is only for new candidates.

There are a couple of positions where incumbents have already publically announced that they will not be seeking re-election, such as District Attorney Mike Knowles, County Superintendent of Schools Joe Silva, Assessor Ken Caetano and Sonora City Councilman Hank Russell.

We will publish a list of candidates, when it becomes available, after today’s deadline.
