Teen Safe Driving Classes

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA – The CHP reports the leading cause of death among 15 to 20-year-olds in America is vehicle crashes. That statistic has prompted the CHP to offer a new teen driver safety class called “Start Smart”.

CHP Spokesperson Rebecca Myers says, “It’s a big responsibility when you get behind the car. We provide an interactive, safe driving class for the teens. To start making the correct choices behind the wheel and realize what you do has an effect on your friends, family and others.”

At least one parent or guardian is required to attend the class with a teen. One incentive for parents to have their teen take the class is a possible discount on insurance rates.

“There are a lot of insurance companies now that are onboard with this program. You have to attend the class. Then you will get a certificate and have to present that to your insurance company,” says Myers.

The class is scheduled for Thursday, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. To register for the free class please call (209) 754-3541.
