Arrest After Date Arranged On Facebook

Burson, CA — Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies used Facebook to arrest a 19-year-old on felony charges of lewd and lascivious behavior.

On February 2, 2014 Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of an adult male propositioning a 10 year old girl on Facebook. The suspect reportedly knew the girl to be 10 years old, and wanted to meet her for sex.

The deputies, pretending to be the 10 year old victim, communicated with the suspect on Facebook. Dylan Ray Mills, of Burson, made sexually explicit statements during the Facebook conversation with the deputies. He stated that he would meet the deputy, whom he thought was the victim, at the Starbucks coffee shop in Valley Springs.

The deputies set up surveillance and at 10:00pm deputies arrested Mills sitting in his vehicle in front of Starbucks.

Mills was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on two felony charges: contacting or communicating with minor for purpose of engaging in certain lewd and lascivious behavior and arranging and meeting with minor for purpose of engaging in certain lewd and lascivious behavior. Both charges can carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 16 months in Prison and a lifetime duty to register as a sex offender.

During the interview after his arrest, Mills admitted to the Facebook conversations with the victim.
