Sponsored by:

Valley Springs, CA — A burglar climbs in through a bank ceiling, but leaves empty handed. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Umpqua Bank on Highway 26 in Valley Springs yesterday at 10:25 p.m. for an alarm.

The thief took off before deputies arrived. When deputies searched the bank, they found ceiling tiles that had fallen to the floor. Investigators found that the suspect entered the bank by climbing onto the roof and entered through a vent. When the burglar got inside, the alarm went off. Detectives report several drawers were ransacked, but nothing appeared to be stolen.

Crime Scene Investigators were able to collect a significant amount of evidence at the bank. Investigators say the evidence includes DNA, finger and shoes prints and security camera video. The case is under active investigation. Sheriff’s Officials say additional information will be released when available.
