Couple’s Hard Work Brings Funds
San Andreas, CA -- Calaveras County Water District is honoring a couple they say played a major role in getting grants to fund improvements to the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Douglas Flat. The new $4.42 million dollar waste water treatment plant in Douglas Flat is up and running. To say thank you for their tireless work the district's board president gave Ray and Helen Behrbaum of Vallecito a tour of the plant. CCWD says the couple went door to door in the county with Household Income Surveys in hand and got community members to fill them out. They also compiled the data and submitted the results of the surveys with a map of the residents who responded to the District.
Board President, Dennis Dooley says, "The District is extremely grateful for all the support and hard work Ray and Helen Behrbaum put into this project to better the Douglas Flat/Vallecito community"
District officials say the plant is now open and running beautifully. It will allow the District to process 75,000 gallons of waste water per day. The water can be used for irrigating of golf courses, vineyards, and other uses along the Highway 4 corridor.
