Calaveras County, CA - Calaveras County has picked a new CAO for now. In a unanimous decision, the Board of Supervisors appointed John Blacklock as the interim County Administrative Officer at Tuesday's meeting. Blacklock is retired, but says he likes to take on interim jobs when they come along. He has worked for Butte County and as City Administrator for Red Bluff and Anderson in Northern California.
Interim CAO John Blacklock says, "I'm excited to be up here. I told the board I conduct myself as if I would be here permanently. I try to make decisions that are the right ones in the long term and to think of myself as part of the ongoing organization, even though I know I will only be here a short time."
Blacklock is expected to be in the position from three to five months. One of his duties will be to help the Board find his permanent replacement.
