PG&E Electric Rates Going Up
Sonora, CA -- Starting this month, PG&E electric rates are going up 2.6%.
The company says it will allow them to maintain and modernize its system, and meet a new state mandate to purchase renewable energy. PG&E claims that the 2.6% increase is similar to the rate of inflation for Northern California. Another 2% increase will likely go into effect this coming May to help pay for additional transmission infrastructure.
For customers that purchase natural gas from PG&E, rates are dropping by 6% this month.
