The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada from Sunday 6 PM through Monday night at midnight.

A Winter Storm Watch will then go into effect for the Sierra from Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon.

Snow levels will begin around 5500 feet before lowering to 3500 through 4000 feet by Monday night and Tuesday.

Five inches to one foot and a half of snow accumulation is likely from 3500 feet and above.

Winds of fifteen to thirty-five mph are expected, with gusts ranging from fifty to sixty mph over the crest of the Sierra.

Another storm system will impact the Sierra from Thursday evening into Friday.

A Winter Storm Warning means that significant snow is inevitable and will occur within the issued time frame.

A Winter Storm Watch means that there is the potential for snow but the full impact has not yet been determined.
