Sacramento, CA -- The Associated Press reports health providers and advocates for the poor are denouncing a federal appeals court ruling giving California the green light to cut payments to Medi-cal. The AP says the opponents are worried that those cuts will hamper the state's ability to expand and improve medical care under the federal health reform.

This week, the federal court backed California's right to cut payments to Medi-cal by 10 percent. The AP says opponents also fear the move will lead to less health care provider participation. They plan to appeal the ruling in the coming weeks.
