Sonora, CA -- The man who set fire to several Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles faces over three years in state prison.

The crime was carried out on December 2nd of last year. Samuel Henry Shockley poured gasoline onto three vehicles parked outside the Sheriff's Office administration building at around three o'clock that morning. An extensive investigation followed, and Shockley was arrested in connection five months later. Shockley had an immediate family member arrested about a week before the arson incident, and law enforcement officials earlier stated that this could have been a factor in the crime.

The District Attorney's Office reports that Shockley has pleaded guilty to arson, and was sentenced on Monday to three years in state prison. An additional eight months were added on top of the sentence for a probation violation.
