San Andreas, CA -- New details have been released about a plane crash that occurred Friday afternoon along a hillside near the Maury Rasmussen Field Airport in San Andreas.

The pilot in the crash was killed. He is identified as 68-year-old Russell Hackler of Danville. He was flying a single engine Coot A-Amphibian, which was a homemade plane. Hackler was the only person on board. The NTSB and FAA are investigating the actual cause of the crash. Witnesses on scene reported that it sounded like it could have been due to some type of engine failure.

It happened at around 3:45pm on Friday.
