Chips For Kids
San Andreas, CA - It may sound like a new snack for kids, but these chips bring toys not food to Calaveras County children. The CHP and Santa's Express are teaming up for the 15th annual CHiPs for KIDS Toy Drive. The toys will be given to hospitalized and disadvantaged children in the County just before the Christmas holiday.
Sgt. Georgia Hiehle says this collection is different than others, "All the toys collected they actually stay in the county. A lot of the programs you see items go down to the valley, Sacramento, Stockton, but the Chips For Kids are all given to kids that live right in our county."
The drive ends on Friday, December 14th. The collection barrels are at these locations in the county:
- California Highway Patrol - San Andreas
- CHP/Sheriff Sub-Station - Arnold
- Mark Twain Elementary - Angels Camp
- Mountain Oaks River Academy - San Andreas
- Copperopolis Elementary - Copperopolis
- San Andreas Elementary - San Andreas
- Jenny Lind Elementary - Jenny Lind
- Toyon Middle School - Valley Springs
