Copperopolis, CA - The accident happened around 9:30 Tuesday morning on Little John Road in Copperopolis. The CHP says 49 year old Valerie Jean Maschal of Copperopolis was driving a 2009 Ford Mustang when it flipped over several times trapping her inside.
Sgt. Georgia Hiehle says, "For an unknown reason she allowed the vehicle to leave the lane and it went onto the dirt shoulder. The front end collided with a boulder. After the impact it went airborne and completely rolled over onto its top where it came to rest."
Hiehle says it took emergency crews about 10 minutes to free Maschal from the car. Maschal was air-lifted to Modesto Memorial. Also, the roadway was blocked for about 15 minutes by the life-flight helicopter landing and taking off. The CHP says the wreck is under investigation.
