Yosemite, CA - Yosemite National Park and the Ansel Adams Galley held a Gateway Expressions Student Art and Poetry Contest and today the winners works were hung up for public view. Park officials say the contest is a way the park and the Ansel Adams Gallery can celebrate the creativity of youth in the Yosemite gateway communities.

Ranger Kari Cobb says, "Those little kids that are running around in the park right now and even outside the Gateway communities, they're going to be the future park rangers. They're going to be the ones who really have to push for Yosemite and other national parks to be protected. So this is a way, we can do something fun. We can show children and youth that Yosemite is beautiful and to take their creativity and make it what they want to make it."

This is the second year the park has hosted the contest. The park got 140 pieces of artwork. The Yosemite Conservancy helped fund the contest.
