Did You See It?
Sonora, CA -- Several in the Mother Lode reported seeing portions of a meteor shower last night.
The Associated Press reports that it is part of the Orionid meteor shower, and it is expected to continue through the weekend. Objects that looked like large fireballs were visible starting around seven o'clock last night in much of the Sierra Nevada, and it was also reported everywhere from the Bay Area to Mendocino County.
The warm temperatures, and lack of clouds, have increased visibility of this particular shower. NASA reports that it is expected to peak on Saturday and Sunday.
(Special thanks to Jake Carter who sent this picture of the meteor shot with his cell phone near Livermore)
