Sacramento, CA -- Governor Jerry Brown says he is hoping to reduce the record breaking gas prices.

AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in California is $4.67. The price has broken records each of the past three days. The last time the state saw prices this high was June of 2008, when the average was $4.60.

Yesterday, Brown ordered state smog regulators to start allowing winter blend gasoline earlier than normal. Typically, the blend is not allowed until after October 31st. Most refineries in the state have now started manufacturing the winter blend.

The Associated Press reports that a station in Long Beach had California's priciest gas yesterday, selling for $6.65 a gallon. The myMotherLode.com gas price section shows that regular unleaded is selling in Sonora from $4.31 to $4.61.
