Valley Springs, CA -- Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Jenny Lind Memorial Veteran's Ball Park in Valley Springs after people reported their vehicles being burglarized. They say the victims had just finished playing softball games when they discovered the thefts.

Deputies say one victim reported a $600.00 pool cue had been taken and he saw a woman walking down the road with the pool cue. They say he followed her to an apartment on the 100 block of Pine Street in Valley Springs.

Deputies went to the apartment and talked to 27 year old Sara Michelle Riddle of Valley Springs. Deputies say she denied knowing anything about the thefts. They also questioned Riddle's boyfriend, 33 year old Patrick Seneca Elkins of Valley Springs. Deputies say Elkins let them in the apartment where they found not only the pool cue, but about 50 more stolen items taken from all the victims' vehicles. They say they also found other items from prior thefts in the area including personal electronic devices, coolers, clothing, alcoholic beverages, and duffel bags.

Sheriff's Officials say over $1,400.00 in property had been stolen, along with over $200 in cash.

Both Riddle and Elkins were arrested and charged with Petty Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.
