In 1912, the city of Angels Camp became incorporated. Now, it's time to celebrate with the Centennial Celebration of Angels Camp.
Shelby French, board member with the Angels Camp Business Association was Friday's KVML "Newsmaker of the Day".
Highway 49 in downtown Angels Camp will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 11am-4pm on Saturday. This is the first time in over fifty years that the entire downtown (outside of parades) will be a pedestrains-only area.
Vistors tomorrow can expect lots of music, arts and merchandise specials. Additionally, there wil be western gun fights, a frog jump, an old-fashioned soap box derby, pony rides, vendors of all descriptions, street performers, lots of food and drink concessions, and a variety of music stretched from the historic downtown to Utica Park.
Parking on the south side of town will be at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds with continous free shuttle service from 10am- 5pm. Parking on the north side of town will be at Bret Harte High School, again with free shuttle service.
Tonight (Friday September 28) there will be a Kick-Off Concert in Utica Park from 6 to 9 pm. On Saturday a variety of local musical talent will entertain from four stages located throughout the historic downtown.
