Government Does Too Much?
Sonora, CA -- A recent myMotherLode.com poll asked "Which comes closer to your own view about the Government?" The majority, 65% said it "Does Too Much" 24% said they were mixed and it depends, while only 9% agreed that the Government should do more.
Two similar polls asked more specific questions and got more evenly divided results.
A September 19th Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters found that 44% are more worried that the federal government will try to do too much in reacting to the nation's current economic problems. But just as many (44%) fear the government will not do enough in response to those problems. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided.
A Gallup poll from September 6-9 found majority of Americans (54%) continue to believe the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses, although that is down from the record high of 61% earlier this summer. About four in 10 Americans (39%) say the government should do more to solve the nation's problems.
The first of three major Presidential debates will air on October 3rd. The Presidential Election is November 6th.
