The second Saturday of January in our events calendar features a several events.
Sonora’s Second Saturday Art Night will feature 150 Years of Yosemite with “Originals & Traditionals,” celebrating the best Sierra Nevada musicians around with showcase performances by five top regional American Roots Music bands. Shops will remain open throughout the evening and will be showing the works of local artists.
Screenings of “Yosemite: A Gathering of Spirit” at the Sonora Opera Hall will be featured on the hour at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, and 7:00pm. Then at 8:00pm there will be a live Opera Hall performance of “The Spirit of John Muir,” by nationally acclaimed actor and storyteller Lee Stetson. Copperopolis’ 28th Annual “First Tasting Of The Year” For Calaveras County Wineries is to be held Saturday. Over a dozen Calaveras County Wineries have been invited. Ticket Sales include a Donation to Restore and Maintain the Historic Old Church and Armory Buildings, Historical Archive Preservation, Homecoming Celebration and Annual History Program at Copper Elementary School. The California Highway Patrol will show parents how to correctly install their child’s seat for free. The event is held at the Sonora Regional Medical Center between 10am and 2pm. Parents can call the birth center to schedule a time. Details are in the event listing here.
