Is Your Child's Car Seat Safe?
San Andreas, CA - It's Child Passenger Safety Week. The San Andreas Area of the California Highway Patrol says many parents ask these questions; should the seat be rear or forward facing, a booster or a seatbelt?
They will answer those questions during a Child Safety Seat Check on Saturday, September 22nd, from 10am - 2pm, at the County Office of Education at 185 South Main Street in Angels Camp.
They say their Safety Seat Technicians will also be there to install new car seats and check previously installed car seats. CHP reports statistically car seats have been found installed incorrectly 96% of the time. Does your car seat fall into this category? They will also advise you if your child is in the correct car seat for their age and height.
Also, did you know car seats have expiration dates? CHP spokesperson Becky Myers says "A lot of people don't realize car seats have expiration dates. It goes by age, height and weight."
